This was a second printing of the Traité élémentaire de Chimie, originally published in 1789. The book is considered to be the first modern chemistry textbook and its author, Lavoisier, has been called the father of modern chemistry after being credited with the introduction of the metric system and the law of conservation of mass.

10. The Malay Archipelago by Alfred Russel Wallace - $4.869
First edition presentation copy of the 1869 book which chronicles the exploration of Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia by renowned naturalist Alfred Wallace. In this book, Wallace first identifies the line which divides fauna of Australia from that of Asia (Wallace Line), though he is possibly best known for being one of the earliest scientists to propose a theory of natural selection along with Charles Darwin.
